Kench is an internationally awarded screenwriter with a large of portfolio of feature film and television scripts across a wide range of genres. He has also worked extensively as a script doctor and ghostwriter of both original and adapted screenplays for freelance clients. Kench is open to representation from literary management and may consider freelance gigs if the client is professional and the project is a good fit. HORROR FEATURE

A just-married gay couple is thrust into a fight for survival after encountering homophobia and religious extremism while on a road trip through the American South.

Kench wrote “South of the Mason-Dixon” as both a novel and a screenplay. The novel was published by HellBound Books, while the screenplay earned an 8 overall on the Black List and was included in the Black List’s industry roundups of the best horror, best low-budget, and best overall scripts. “South of the Mason-Dixon was also an official selection of the 2024 Shockfest and a featured script on the 2024 Dead List, a curated collection of the best unproduced horror screenplays of the year.

HORROR FEATURE

When his father starts coughing up boiling blood, a young boy in colonial America at the brink of the Revolutionary War fears his stepmother may be poisoning him… or may even be a witch.

“Boil Your Blood” ranked in the top 5% of all scripts on Coverfly’s Red List and ranked in the top 30 scripts on the Black List’s real-time top list. The script was a semi-finalist in the ScreenCraft Horror Competition, a semi-finalist in the Filmmatic Horror Screenplay Awards, a quarterfinalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition, and a second-rounder in the Austin Film Festival Script Competition.

HORROR FEATURE

A teenager in a losing battle with cancer struggles to tell reality apart from the terrible nightmares brought on by chemotherapy. “A Nightmare on Elm Street” meets “It Follows.”

“Chemo Dreams” was an award winner at the New York Screenplay Contest, nominated for ‘best feature length screenplay’ at the Horror Haus Film Festival, and named one of the top 10 screenplays by the Film Empire Horror Screenwriting Initiative. The script was also a semi-finalist in the Fade In Horror Awards, the Inroads Screenwriting Fellowship, and the ScreenCraft Horror Contest.

DRAMA FEATURE

A Florida street corner connects the lives of several strangers after a single mother is killed by a drunk driver. An ensemble film with interconnecting storylines in the vein of movies like “Magnolia” and “Yi Yi”

“A Well-Decorated Corner” ranked in the top 3% of scripts on Coverfly’s Red List and earned Kench a top 4 placement for the Michael Collyer Fellowship as chosen by The Black List and the Writers Guild Initiative. The script was also a semi-finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition and the Atlanta Film Festival, as well as a quarterfinalist in the WeScreenplay Feature-Length Script Competition.

COMEDY FEATURE — Co-written with Jeff Jackson

A young bride’s desire to placate her mother with a traditional Catholic wedding runs into a major obstacle: her fiancé’s atheism.

“Our G*ddamn Wedding” was a semi-finalist in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Competition and received a ‘Recommend’ and 9/10 from WeScreenplay. The script was also a finalist in the Austin Comedy Film Festival.

ACTION, THRILLER FEATURE

Chaos ensues when three groups of criminals all unwittingly attempt to rob a small-town casino at the same time. “Snatch” meets “Green Room.”
